Embracing Rejection: My Journey Through 100 Days of Fear
Written on
Chapter 1: Facing the Challenge
In this segment, I recount my experiences during the first few days of my 100 Days of Rejection challenge, a journey designed to help me confront my fears of judgment and rejection from others.
This journey taught me that you truly don’t know your limits until you push against them.
Section 1.1: Day 2 – The Jacket Encounter
On the second day, I found myself outside a supermarket where I spotted a charming man wearing an eye-catching jacket while he chatted on the phone. I boldly approached him and asked if I could have the jacket. His reaction was pure amusement, and he responded with a hearty laugh, but ultimately declined my request.
EPIC SUCCESS
Section 1.2: Day 3 – A Request for Affection
The following day, I approached a woman outside a post office and asked her for a hug and a kiss on the cheek. To my astonishment, instead of rejecting me outright, she obliged with a smile! Afterward, I explained my rejection challenge, snapped a selfie with her, and wished her well.
Despite this heartwarming interaction, I realized that it wasn’t the rejection I was seeking, so my quest continued.
EPIC FAIL
Subsection 1.2.1: Seeking More Rejections
Following my unexpected success, I spotted a rather disgruntled-looking older gentleman near a bus stop. I inquired if he could do push-ups, but he shot me a glare, dismissively replied “No!” and hurried away before I could even challenge him to drop and give me twenty.
EPIC SUCCESS
Final Thoughts
The warmth I experienced from the woman’s hug was unexpected. It’s easy to assume that strangers are cold and indifferent, but moments like that remind me of the kindness that exists in the world. Conversely, the abrupt rejection from the older man stung, but I embraced it as part of the process.
Moving forward, I recognized the importance of asking my questions more swiftly to avoid premature dismissals.
Looking Back from 2023
Reflecting on this challenge years later fills me with pride, akin to a parent watching their child take their first steps. The struggle was real, yet the rewards were undeniably worthwhile.

Chapter 2: Days 4 & 5 – Challenging Stereotypes
In these next days, I faced challenges that were just as daunting as they were enlightening.
The first video, "Natalie Can I Have Your Jacket??" provides an entertaining glimpse into my rejection journey, showcasing the humor and unexpected kindness I encountered.
The second video, "Angelina & Natalie's Jacket | Badly Drawn Survivor (Episode 3)," adds a humorous twist to the theme of unexpected interactions, reinforcing the idea that connection can flourish in the most unlikely situations.
