# Out of Office: Embracing the Art of Doing Nothing

Written on

Chapter 1: The Out of Office Message

Thank you for your email! I am currently away from the office.

Greetings!

I will be offline from July 27 to 31 with limited email access and will respond to your message as soon as I’m back.

While I claim to have restricted email access, I must admit that’s not entirely accurate. I tend to stay within a 7-meter radius of a Wi-Fi router at all times. Occasionally, I’ll check my phone for work emails, feeling a wave of regret wash over me for doing so.

You see, I've already packed my makeshift office for the week to dedicate time to the noble pursuit of doing absolutely nothing. My home office has transformed into a site of stress rather than relaxation. Instead of enjoying a work-life balance, it feels like I’m just perpetually working.

Ever want to toss your phone into the sea after receiving more than 80 emails in a single day? Just a heads-up: If you keep sending me multiple 'urgent' emails, I may randomly delete any or all emails upon my return. May the strongest messages endure!

Doing nothing is pure bliss (perhaps I’m just getting older).

Chapter 2: My Plans for Doing Nothing

After indulging in inactivity, I plan to soak up some sun while binge-watching Netflix and taking long naps in patches of sunlight until the days blur together. These are just more socially acceptable ways to describe doing nothing (I worry about judgment, you know).

My evenings will be spent lost in daydreams of escaping to the wilderness, never to return. Perhaps I’ll become a farmer, cultivating potatoes, or even a Sherpa, raising alpacas and leading people on epic mountain adventures.

Anything seems possible until you factor in healthcare costs and the effort required to catch food that seems intent on evading capture just to survive.

If I do happen to be found, please contact someone other than me. And if you require urgent assistance for a business emergency, you can reach me at [email protected].

Thank you for reading! Feel free to follow Foobar comics for more delightful quirks.
