The Profound Lessons of a Decade in Daycare: A Journey into Reincarnation

Written on

Children learning and growing

Over nearly a decade of running a home daycare, I've gained insights into human development and discovered a deeper understanding of a spiritual concept: reincarnation.

Every Child is Unique Anyone with multiple children can attest to their distinct personalities. A child who mastered potty training early might have a sibling who struggles until just before starting school. While development is influenced by various factors, personality remains the core element.

My experiences have led me to believe in the notion of past lives. We seem to carry remnants from our previous existences, recognizing familiar faces and arriving with lessons—some already learned, others still in progress.

Understanding Reincarnation Reincarnation suggests that a part of us—our spirit or consciousness—transcends physical death, allowing us to return in successive lives. This cycle is believed to help fulfill a divine purpose, gain wisdom, and become closer to universal energy.

Various traditions, including Hinduism and Buddhism, support this belief, which has persisted for centuries. I am no expert in this field, but I encourage anyone curious to seek further information.

Observations from the Daycare Initially, I didn’t contemplate these ideas deeply until I observed toddlers daily. After my first year, I began to notice perplexing behaviors among the children. Some appeared to carry emotional burdens or had unusual relationships that left me puzzled.

Despite understanding their familial backgrounds, some children displayed personalities and behaviors that were hard to explain.

Here are a few anecdotes that reinforced my belief in reincarnation (names have been altered for privacy):

Max: Max arrived shortly after turning one and spent his initial weeks running around, arms flailing, and screaming—a phase I’d seen before with other children experiencing separation anxiety. However, his family life seemed perfectly ordinary.

Despite his challenging start, I noticed he was exceptionally independent. One day, while I was feeding him, he surprisingly began to feed himself when I turned my back. It was as though he had an innate understanding of self-sufficiency beyond his age.

After six weeks of adjustment, he suddenly ceased his screaming and appeared to settle in. Later, his mother jokingly mentioned that their family believed he might be the reincarnation of his uncle, who died in a motorcycle accident. This notion resonated with me as I observed his unique disposition.

Max and Sandy: Around the same time, a girl named Sandy joined us. From their first encounter, she and Max seemed to share an extraordinary bond, as if they recognized each other. Sandy displayed a maturity atypical for her age, often exhibiting impatience with the other children’s antics.

She would occasionally engage in mischievous behavior, such as eating sand from the sandbox, and Max would often try to please her in any way he could, showcasing a connection that felt profound and inexplicable.

Penny: Another child, Penny, spoke with an unexpected New York accent as she began to form words. Her thoughtful and analytical nature stood out; she processed information in a way that suggested a depth of experience beyond her years. Despite being an only child from a loving family, I sensed she had endured significant challenges in her past.

Patterns and Insights Over the years, I have observed patterns in children that suggest deeper connections. Some children seem to arrive with an innate understanding of the world, while others exhibit fears that are difficult to explain.

My experiences have led me to reconsider my previous beliefs about reincarnation, seeing it not merely as a spiritual concept but as a real possibility. As children grow, this essence often fades, making way for their current identities.

I am not particularly religious, instead grounding my understanding in psychology. Yet, my observations of these children have prompted a spiritual awakening I never anticipated.

Reincarnation has become a vital part of my belief system, shaped by the lessons learned from the little ones I’ve cared for.
