She highlighted that any health benefits associated with alcohol likely stem from the social interactions that accompany drinking rather than the beverage itself. While she acknowledged the joy of sharing a drink with others, she advised against it for health reasons.

This was the first time I had heard a doctor emphasize the significance of a robust social network for overall health. After this enlightening conversation, I decided to make her my primary care physician.
