Understanding Your Financial Aspirations
Before diving into the crucial questions that reveal your financial potential, start by reflecting on this fundamental question:
How much money do you truly need to feel satisfied?
It's important to recognize that responses will vary widely. While some may assume everyone desires over a million dollars, many actually cite a lesser figure. This response is largely influenced by your self-perception and the beliefs you hold about your worth, which reside deep within your subconscious.
The amount of money you believe you deserve is often dictated by this inner voice—your subconscious—rather than your conscious thoughts. This inner dialogue, often drowned out by the chaotic chatter of daily life, ultimately determines your financial reality.
But wait! You might argue that numerous millionaires and billionaires exist, many of whom may not be exemplary individuals. Why would anyone want wealth if it could lead to becoming like them? Such a mindset can quickly stifle your financial ambitions. Your subconscious may interpret the desire for wealth as a path to becoming a negative person.
You might ask: do these wealthy individuals possess a keen awareness of their subconscious motivations? Not necessarily. Most are not deeply introspective. However, they are often confident in their ability to attract wealth, believing it is their right to do so. This unwavering confidence in their financial potential allows them to accumulate wealth repeatedly.
The reality is that possessing vast sums of money doesn't inherently make someone a bad person. Many affluent individuals feel a persistent sense of inadequacy, driving them to accumulate more wealth without ever feeling fulfilled. This creates a relentless cycle, akin to a hamster running on a wheel, where the pursuit of wealth never satisfies.
Now, you might find yourself agreeing, thinking this is why individuals with more modest incomes can experience greater happiness. But there’s a catch: could it be that their contentment stems not from satisfaction but from a fear of change and a belief that they don't deserve more? Such fears reside in the subconscious, influencing your conscious life as if by design. They reinforce the notion that you truly don't want wealth, and since your subconscious governs about 95% of your mind, these underlying beliefs shape your reality.
Despite this, the dream of wealth feels tangible and real to us. From a young age, we have been exposed to the narrative that we should seek wealth, as depicted in countless tales, films, and songs. This societal conditioning fosters a belief in our entitlement to a share of the riches of a mythical golden city.
Now, let's revisit those three essential questions.
- Do you desire a higher income than you currently earn?
- Do you feel entitled to earn more for your efforts?
- Do you believe you are worth a higher income than you currently receive?
If you answered "yes" to any of these yet find your income lacking, this may indicate that your conscious mind is merely skimming the surface of your beliefs.
To dig deeper, vocalize each question and probe your subconscious for the truth. How do you do this? Recognize that your subconscious holds all your memories and beliefs, dictating your habitual thoughts. Neuroscience has shown that your subconscious shapes your reality based on the beliefs formed by you, your upbringing, or societal influences. It acts on your directives, so if you express a desire for more wealth but simultaneously believe you don't deserve it, your subconscious will continue to manifest a life that reflects that unworthiness.
However, by shifting your language from "want" to "have," you can change the game. Instead of saying, “I want a better job” or “I want to own my own home,” visualize yourself already in that role or living in that home, as if it’s your present reality. Your subconscious will respond to this imagery and begin to manifest that vision in your life.
Every successful entrepreneur, artist, athlete, or writer has tapped into this principle. While some may have had positive reinforcement growing up, they all engaged in positive affirmations along their journey.
Consider trying this illuminating exercise to connect with your subconscious: Write down a thought you have and explore why you believe it. Continue asking "why" for each answer until you reach the core of your belief. This process can unveil underlying truths that may positively shift your perspective.
For example:
Thought: I am not good enough.
Why? I haven’t achieved my goals.
Why? Others have been chosen over me.
Why? My boss prefers them.
Why? I don’t always meet their expectations.
Why? I dislike my job.
Why? It isn’t my passion.
Why? I accepted it for financial security, but I want to be a singer.
Why? Because that’s my true calling.
Why? That’s who I genuinely am.
Your capacity to generate wealth is intrinsically linked to your mindset. You may rationalize a lack of wealth for altruistic reasons, inadvertently ensuring that belief becomes your reality. Alternatively, you can affirm that greater wealth will empower you to contribute positively to the world, leading your subconscious to create paths toward that goal.
As the BORG from Star Trek: The Next Generation famously states, “Resistance is futile.” In life, however, resisting the truth can hinder your progress. Embrace self-affirmation and clarity of vision to realize your aspirations.
Remember, your subconscious is always listening to your thoughts and understands the essence behind them. It diligently follows your commands.
