Section 1.1: Understanding the AI Checker's Analysis

The analysis provided a breakdown of my writing, including a graph that showed the percentage of words typically used by AI versus those that are less common. I discovered that a whopping 71% of my word choices were categorized as common.

This prompted me to revisit my story in search of ways to make it sound more unique. I experimented by swapping out some adverbs for more vivid alternatives and replaced several common words with less frequently used ones. The result was a more engaging narrative. However, this exercise raised a question: Shouldn’t I be striving for originality in all my writing?

After making these adjustments, I re-ran my improved draft through the AI checker, only to receive the same "medium risk" assessment.

Section 1.2: The Dilemma of Authenticity

Feeling frustrated, I wondered if my voice might be too ordinary. I aim to write authentically, not like an academic or a thesaurus. I write as a regular person who loves to share stories from our lives.

Yet, I acknowledged that perhaps my choice of the word "nor," along with some other unique phrases, might seem out of place. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to keep trying to prove my humanity to the checker. I then considered whether the theme of my story—finding a sense of grounding—was too common, which might have contributed to the results.

In an effort to test this theory, I submitted a completely personal story, one about a conversation with my mother—something AI would never replicate. Strangely, the AI checker still indicated a medium risk that my words were generated by AI.

This was utterly perplexing, as this particular exchange was entirely unique, much like my mother herself. The AI tool's reliability was increasingly questionable.
