Chapter 1: An Invitation to Innovate
We are launching an avant-garde literary journal that aims to disrupt the existing literary landscape and transform cultural narratives. If you're interested in contributing, please follow these straightforward guidelines.
Our reading period runs from the next blue moon until Labor Day, whichever occurs first. Submissions received outside this window will not be considered.
Avoid including personal details on your poetry or fiction submissions. Any works that do contain personal information will be offered up to the gods of narcissistic writers.
You're welcome to submit up to three (3) poems or one (1) piece of fiction, provided the total does not exceed four (4) pages. Ensure each page has a heading and the page numbers are placed in the bottom right corner. Additionally, titles should be formatted with two (2) spaces before the text begins.
We have categorized fiction into seven distinct types: long story, long short story, short story, short short story, flash, micro flash, and eco flash. Please select the appropriate category for your work; submissions that are miscategorized will be disregarded.
For poetry, there is a strict limit of eighteen (18) lines.
No simultaneous submissions will be tolerated. All such entries will be promptly discarded.
Also, please refrain from sending multiple submissions. We do this out of passion and to better the world. We have lives too, unlike those who might still be living in their parents' basements.
Ensure your work is polished. The more refined, the better. However, it should also retain a raw edge.
Absolutely no previously published pieces will be accepted, which includes anything that has appeared on blogs, Medium, Substack, social media platforms, or even in old mimeographed zines from the 1970s. If it has been seen before, it will be rejected—NO EXCEPTIONS!
Typos and spelling mistakes are unacceptable. If you can’t differentiate between “its” and “it’s,” or “they’re” and “their,” please take the time to improve your skills before submitting.
No historical inaccuracies will be tolerated! If you believe Columbus "discovered" America, we have a bridge in Atlantis we’d love to sell you.
We will retain all rights to the submitted work. Accepted authors will receive a 25-page legal document to sign and return within thirty (30) days.
Please compile all submissions into a single file. Title your document using the format: your first initial - journal name - date - submission type. Additionally, include a photo of your signature within this file.
Only use Times New Roman for your submissions—no alternatives.
A cover letter is required, separate from your submission. In this letter, include your (real) name, gender, sexual preference, marital status, pronouns, the titles of your works, and your motivation for writing. Also, describe how you learned about us and why you believe your writing deserves a spot in our journal.
Include a separate photo of yourself, looking into the camera and smiling. Ensure there are no red eyes, as they will be disregarded.
Avoid long lists of past publications. We are only interested in your work; the only journal that matters is ours. There are no delusions of grandeur here. No links to Amazon or personal blogs, please—this is about art, not a personal literary marketplace.
Do not submit poems that contain racial slurs, biases against any group, or sexual references. Political poetry, creepy or inappropriate themes, and poems about family or mundane topics like flowers or love are also discouraged. Poems addressing death are welcome, but only if they are uplifting.
Surprise us with your creativity! We are always looking for something fresh and bold—just ensure it’s not offensive. Familiarize yourself with the sensitivities of our current editorial team.
Please refrain from submitting between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. central time, as that is our meditation period.
Submit your best work. We have only six pages available, and competition is expected to be intense.
A reading fee of $10 is required for the standard 6 to 48-month response time. For expedited responses, the fee is $50, and a 250-word critique can be obtained for $500.
We especially encourage submissions from writers of color, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
All our readers and editors will remain anonymous for their protection.
Namaste and good luck!
